Hi everyone -- Todd, the kids & I are doing the Walk for Epilepsy on Saturday, 6/21. As you all know, this cause is incredibly near & dear to our hearts. Epilepsy is one of the least understood conditions out there - there are so many variations, and it just isn't sexy enough to attract much fundraising/awareness. (not many epileptic sitcom stars) Yet more Americans have epilepsy than muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's Disease combined! Of the 181,000 new cases diagnosed this year, 75% will be children. It is impossible for most people to understand the devastating effects of epilepsy on individual and families. Your support will help provide services for those in need, and increase awareness, education and training around epilepsy. Please take a few moments to visit Lily's blog (www.lily-bean.com), then follow the link to our pledge page and consider supporting our team. Tags: lily

WOO! Dear Katie, I work for Senator Barack Obama, and together, with you, we're about to start something incredible. Right now I'm writing to ask you to take a moment and watch this important announcement from Senator Obama: http://www.barackobama.com/previewI'm also writing to let you know that Senator Obama will be making a speech about his plans for the future in Springfield, Illinois on Saturday morning. It will be cold, but thousands will brave sub-freezing temperatures to be part of something historic. Can't join us in person? No problem. You can watch a live video feed of the event on BarackObama.com, which will be a brand new site in the morning. Here are the details: Live Video Feed from Springfield, Illinois 10:55 AM Eastern / 9:55 AM Central / 8:55 AM Mountain / 7:55 AM Pacific http://www.barackobama.comPlease pass this along to anyone you think might interested. That's all for now...but this is just the beginning. Thank you, David David Plouffe Obama Exploratory Committee Tags: 2008

A ton of people posted this yesterday but I missed the boat, so here it is today: 10 Reasons Why Gay Marriage is "Wrong"1)Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning. 2)Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall. 3)Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract. 4)Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal. 5)Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Brittany Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage could be destroyed. 6)Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children. 7) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children. 8) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America. 9) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children. 10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans. Current Mood: activist
